Lead Free PCB Assembly

The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive does not allow the usage of six hazardous materials from use in electronic and electrical equipment manufacturing. Lead, which is used in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing is one of the materials among the six. With this in mind, Creative Hi-Tech designs and manufactures lead-free PCBs. This means that in our PCBs, we exclude materials such as:

  • PCDE (Polybrominated dephenyl ether) compounds
  • Cadmium and its compounds
  • PBB (Polybrominated biphenyl) compounds
  • Hexavalent chromium compounds
  • Mercury and its compounds
  • Lead and its compounds

Lead trimming system
Lead-free wave soldering
Lead-free compatible reflow systems
Thermal Mass Assembly Reflow
Low: 240°C –245°C High: 260°C

Lead-free PCB Assembly Process

Our lead-free PCB assembly process includes following steps:

  • Profiling
  • Inspection
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Application of Board Stensil and Solder Paste
  • Placement of Components
  • Through Hole and Manual Solder
  • Placing Board in Reflow Oven
  • Testing Packaging

Lead-free PCB Benefits

Owing to the following benefits, a lead-free PCB is preferred over the leaded one:

  • Good Thermal Properties: Generally, a lead-free PCB has the capability to survive about 2000 thermal shocks that can vary from -45°C to 145°C. We use the UL approved laminates for our lead-free PCB designs. These laminates can survive temperatures more than 260°C.
  • Low Carbon Footprint: Along with the RoHS regulations, the lead-free PCBs also follow the directive of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). This not only helps reduce its effect on the environment, but also reduce the carbon footprint immensely.

Industries Served

With the capabilities mentioned in the table above, it has helped us to serve a wide range of industries varying from Aerospace and Satellite, LED, Medical industries, to wireless, military, and telecommunications industries.
